Chairman Agrawal said that the expo organized with the objective of taking the development of Nepal’s energy, electric, electronics, information technology, communication and alternative energy sector to a new height is not only a business activity but also an important campaign for technology, innovation, friendly development and building a green economy.

He expressed his confidence that the exhibition would facilitate the exchange of information, experiences and technology among the entrepreneurs, entrepreneurs, producers and service providers of the electronic and electronics sector in Nepal. He said that this type of international level exhibition will help expand economic relations by bringing national and international entrepreneurs and producers on a single platform.

According to Chairman Agrawal, such an exhibition will serve as a “starting point” to take Nepal forward in a new economic journey. He expressed the belief that this would help the country move towards the economic growth rate by bridging the gap between production capacity and market opportunities. He said that such activities could significantly contribute to meeting Nepal’s economic growth target of 7 per cent.

The per capita consumption of electricity in China is around 1,500 unit hours while the per capita consumption in China is around 465 unit kilowatt hours, he informed. “This will make it clear that there is a big gap between Nepal’s energy consumption and industrial development,” he said.

He stressed on the need of promoting clean energy development, saying that electricity consumption increase and expansion of energy use are bases for economic transformation. He also said that the existing MRP system has created challenges in the business sector. According to him, it has been difficult for entrepreneurs to make MRP labeling mandatory especially at the customs point. He said that there is practical difficulty in labeling at the customs point as different types of goods come in the same container.

He said that the present system has created unnecessary pressure on the business sector as the customs infrastructures are not yet adequately developed and hence reforms are necessary. He stressed on the need to promote free competition and market expansion in the market as such a system would have a direct impact on the consumers. Agrawal also expressed his confidence that the expo would help develop Nepal as a hub of technology, energy and innovation.
