KATHMANDU: Nepal Insurance Authority (NEA) Chairman Rajan Bikram Thapa has said that the issue of corporate governance will be implemented with high priority in the insurance sector as per the government’s aspiration.
“The main issue of the current government is the issue of good governance,” Thapa said in a brief conversation with Insurance Khabar after his appointment to the post of chairman, adding, “It will move forward in all sectors (including insurance).” Stating that there has been a leadership gap in the NEA for a long time, he said that he has also prepared and presented a blueprint of reforms to the government for the improvement and promotion of Nepal’s insurance sector.
He also said that his priority is to expand the insurance market, promote potential markets, and revise the policies and regulations in a timely manner. Apart from this, he said that there may be a need to work on restructuring the organizational structure according to the changing shape of the market.
