Kathmandu. The number of patients seeking services has increased after the Rapti Academy of Health Sciences added specialist services one after another. Around 1,000 patients visit the hospital every day. In this connection, more than 300 people underwent health check-up at the cancer counseling and testing camp organized by the Academy on Friday.
Acting vice-chancellor and registrar of the academy Prof Shyam Lamsal said that 21 people were examined towards medicine, 193 towards gynecology and 72 towards surgery during the camp that ran from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. He said that the Academy has taken initiative to start cancer services and such camps would help in identifying and treating cancer patients.
The camp was organized with technical support from BP Koirala Memorial Cancer Hospital, Bharatpur, Chitwan. Lamsal said that a large number of patients have benefited from the camp. Specialist doctors and employees working at the Cancer Hospital Bharatpur, Chitwan and different departments of the Academy were deputed in the camp.

This is the largest and first cancer camp at the institute. Acting Vice-Chancellor Prof Pun said that the camp was organized as per the agreement between the two health institutions and the cancer hospital would collaborate to start cancer treatment service in the academy and it would be continued in the coming days. Lamsal said.
In the camp, women suffering from cervix, breast, vaginal cancer and other cancers were screened for cancer patients and those suffering from uterine problems, breast lumps, vaginal itching and wounds.
