Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: The Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI) has welcomed the government’s commitment to repeal the irrelevant and outdated acts and bring policy reforms by the government led by Prime Minister Balendra Shah. The newly formed government seems to have given priority to the implementation of the suggestions given by the Confederation, the representative body of manufacturing and service-oriented industries. The CNI believes that the government would take the country towards this by keeping the general desire of maintaining good governance and ending corruption in high priority.
The government’s decision to repeal the Act restricting Foreign Investment, Compensation Act, Black Marketeering and some other Social Crimes and Punishment Act, Nepal Agency Act and other laws suggested by the CNI is welcome.
Similarly, the Confederation welcomes the decision to abolish the Department of Revenue Investigation. To transform public service delivery into a fully digital, one-door and interconnected system, to promote good governance, control corruption and increase transparency and accountability in public service delivery, to fast-track the processes related to land acquisition, determination of compensation, tree felling, and approval of environmental impact assessment reports, and to make the public procurement process fully digital. According to the CNI, the government has given priority to the issues including making it transparent and trackable and encouraging competition.
Similarly, to maintain high alertness and make special security arrangements for the security of industries, business centers, banking infrastructures and supply chains, activate the Industry and Commerce Dialogue Council under the chairmanship of the Prime Minister for continuous dialogue and coordination with the private sector, automate the tax administration, sign power purchase agreement, immediately implement the strategy of protection and promotion of the private sector and automate the tax administration, The government seems to have given priority to controlling revenue leakage, providing easy services to taxpayers, consolidating funds of similar nature and preparing a framework for investing the money in high-yield projects, formulating a health tourism strategy to make Nepal a health tourism hub and initiating the process of determining the minimum support price of major food crops. The CNI believes that the government will give high priority to collaboration with the private sector for the overall economic development.
The Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI) has been suggesting that all political parties should give first priority to the economic agenda. The government has said that it will prepare national commitments by synthesizing the implementable issues included in the manifestos, manifestos and commitment letters of all the political parties participating in the elections. The CNI wants the national commitment to focus on overall economic development.
