Kathmandu. The Karnali Province Office of Nepal Insurance Authority (NEA) has organized discussions and interactions related to insurance in different places of Humla. The program was organized with Kharpunath Rural Municipality on November 28, with members of various women’s groups in Samkot Ward No. 5 on November 29 and at Mansarovar Namuna Secondary School in Simkot on November 28.
Rural Municipality Vice Chairman Gyan Bahadur Singh, Ward No. 5 Chairman Bharat Jung Shahi, Agriculture, Livestock, Engineering, Accounting, Education and Employment Section Chiefs of the rural municipality, employees, leading farmers, bank representatives, insurance companies based in Humla and around 60 people were present on the occasion.
Rural municipality vice-chair Gyan Bahadur Singh said the rural municipality would work in a more planned way in the coming days to promote the insurance scheme which is the basis for risk management and financial compensation for the people living in a complex geographical location like Humla.
Similarly, Ward Chairman Bharat Jung Shahi said that the people’s representatives should take the responsibility of understanding the insurance and handing it over to the general public.
Similarly, about 50 women members of various Tole Development Committees of Simkot Ward No. 5 were present in the interaction program.
The program was coordinated by Chin Rawat, Ward Chairman of Simkot Rural Municipality Ward No. 5. During the program, the participants put their queries and questions on livestock insurance, home insurance, life insurance, insurance claims, health insurance, etc. Women actively participated in the program aimed at creating awareness on rural risk management.
Around 100 people including the principals, teachers and students of grade 11 and 12 attended the program. Amar Bahadur Shahi, principal of the school, said that the program aimed at providing insurance literacy to the students would be important in selecting insurance plan and financial plan for future risk management.
Chief of Nepal Insurance Authority’s Karnali Province Office, Nil Prasad Lamichhane, expressed the belief that the discussion program held in Humla district due to the geographical complexity of Karnali state would help in economic development and poverty alleviation.
