Kathmandu. The Insurance Committee has organized an awareness interaction and discussion program on insurance in Swargaddhari Municipality of Pyuthan district. Mayor Netra Bahadur Roka Chhetri, Deputy Mayor Goma Regmi, traders, businessmen, employees of insurance companies, farmers and more than 60 people attended the programme presided over by committee director Sushil Dev Subedi.
Director Subedi gave an informative presentation on insurance. Deputy Director Kundan Sapkota conducted the programme while Sundar Prasad Sharma delivered the welcome speech. The participants questioned why the corona insurance claim was not paid.
The level of insurance awareness has been found to be slightly higher in this area. Government employees, teachers and other people were active agents, but they had to face many questions related to insurance. The participants questioned the committee as to why the surrender period was three years. Similarly, the farmers have requested the insurance companies assigned for agriculture and livestock insurance to depute other companies, saying they are not working well.
Representatives of the insurance committee have assured that the corona insurance claim process will start soon. The Insurance Committee has assured that the claim payment process will move forward as soon as a consensus is reached on one option as discussions are being held with the Government of Nepal regarding the option of payment of corona insurance claim.
The insurance committee has said that it will listen to the complaints of insurance companies not actively working for agricultural insurance in this area and will ask for an explanation as to why the insurance companies deployed in this sector are not working.
The participants complained that the insurance committee was not doing anything to promote the insurance sector. Addressing their grievances, the committee has expressed its commitment that the insurance committee is carrying out various programmes in this regard and will carry out more programmes related to insurance improvement in the coming days.
Addressing the program, Mayor Chhetri complained that the insurance committee has started such a program late. He lamented that the insurance committee has not been able to provide insurance facilities to its people when such a good program came at the last moment of its tenure. He has expressed his commitment to take initiative for insurance policy in the municipality even though he is in the last stage of his tenure.
