Kathmandu. Middle East tensions, the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, and the blockade of other oil routes, including Bab-el-Mandeb, are affecting the world. Now a European country is facing a serious fuel crisis.

The oil crisis in France has reached its peak. One in nine petrol pumps in France has run out of petrol and diesel.

Due to the continuous shortage of oil supply, the fuel crisis in France is badly affecting the people. The lack of supply has led to a sharp increase in the price of oil at petrol pumps. The average price of diesel, in particular, has exceeded 2.39 euros per liter. This has broken all previous national price records.

High-grade diesel is being sold at more than 2.50 euros per liter in more than 700 petrol pumps in France. While in many fuel stations, it is being sold for up to 2.70 euros per liter.

France’s fuel crisis is deepening at levels never seen before. Diesel prices have reached record highs. But the latest government figures show that about 11 percent of petrol pump stations across the country, or about one in nine, are struggling to maintain at least one type of petrol or diesel stock.

The situation seems to be worsening due to the increase in the price of petrol and diesel and the continued disruption of fuel supply. Regionally, 16 percent of the fuel stations in Grand Est are experiencing shortages. This is followed by a 14 percent shortage in the Centre-Val-de-Loire and Ocitanie and 13 percent in the Pays-de-la-Loire.

Saudi Arabia’s oil supply ban has added to the pressure on European supplies. The situation has worsened so much that French President Emmanuel Macron has appealed to the G7 to release emergency reserves. In view of the increasing supply disruptions, Macron has announced plans to call a meeting of G-7 leaders. -Agency
