Kathmandu. CBS News, the US partner of BBC News, has revealed in an exclusive report that Iran-linked groups have used artificial intelligence (AI) to target the US Navy in the war against the US. “They have used US-developed AI,” the report said. ’
The report was published last week by a company called Anthropic. Anthropic did not identify the group but called it a “threat organization.” The company said the group used cloud-based AI to gather public information from the internet, locate the U.S. Navy and suggest potential targets. ’
Anthropic’s report states that accounts related to this activity have been blocked. It has provided information to the US government to prevent this threat.
According to experts, such incidents could become more common when U.S. adversaries return to AI to fuel military operations. “The findings of Anthropic are consistent with how Iran is using technology for its strategic purposes, including conflicts with the United States and Israel,” the experts said. — Agency
