Rasuwa, Nuwakot and Dhading districts declared flood-hit areas

Kathmandu. The government has declared Rasuwa, Nuwakot and Dhading districts as disaster-hit areas. The government has declared a crisis zone for three months.

An emergency meeting of the Council of Ministers held today has decided to declare the affected local levels of these 3 districts as crisis-hit areas and carry out all necessary works there. The meeting also directed all the ministers to work in the field for what is required under the jurisdiction of their respective ministries.

Prior to the meeting, Prime Minister Balendra (Balen) Shah held consultations with the federal parliamentarians of the affected areas regarding the situation arising out of the floods in the Bhotekoshi River in Rasuwa. In a meeting held at Singha Durbar today, the meeting focused on the damage caused by the floods, the condition of the settlements in the coastal areas, rescue and relief operations.

Prior to this, Prime Minister Shah had called a meeting of the National Council for Disaster Risk Reduction and Management today itself and took a high-level information about the latest situation in the flood-affected areas and the progress of rescue, search and relief operations.

During the discussion with the lawmakers of the flood-affected areas, Prime Minister Shah said that the government is fully committed to the safety and relief of the affected people and has given clear instructions to the subordinate bodies to adopt extra vigilance in the lower coastal areas and immediately shift the displaced people to safer places. The government has intensified search and rescue operations by mobilizing security teams in the flood-affected areas.
