Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: Employees of Nepal Insurance Authority (NEA) have expressed solidarity with the ongoing protest by the Securities Board of Nepal (SEBON).

Issuing a press release today, the Nepal Insurance Authority (NEA) Employees Union expressed solidarity with the protest of Sebon employees. Employees of Sebon have been agitating for the last 15 days over the issue of salary cuts. KATHMANDU: Securities Board of Nepal (SEBON) Employees Union and Independent Employees Union have demanded that the government withdraw its decision to curtail the perks and perks of its employees.

Issuing a circular on September 14, the Ministry of Finance had decided to cut down on various services and facilities that the employees have been enjoying since the establishment of the Securities Board of Nepal (SEBON) and to return the amount of services and facilities used by the employees from the past till now and to recover the amount as government dues. “Serious attention has been drawn to this decision of the Ministry of Finance,” the statement said.

“The attempt to curtail the services and facilities being enjoyed by the employees under the Securities Act, 2063 BS and the Board’s Service and Conditions of Service Regulations is unjustified and it is an attack on the autonomy of the Board and the legal rights of the employees,” reads the statement. “The attack on the autonomy of the board by the Ministry of Finance against the principles of the International Umbrella Organization of Securities Regulators has increased the risk of demoralizing the employees from the responsible body of the state, having a long-term impact on motivation and reducing the overall efficiency of the Securities Board and the overall impact on the overall capital market,” the statement reads.

“The decision of the Ministry of Finance to cut off the facilities being provided to the employees of the Board against the International Labour Organization (ILO) and the managerial rights of the autonomous bodies in the international level is unnatural and erroneous,” reads the statement. “The union expresses its solidarity with the joint statement issued by the Employees’ Union Organizations of the Securities Board of Nepal in this regard and the ongoing protest programs,” reads the statement. The union has stressed on the need to make more positive contribution to the development of the capital market by creating a dignified work-friendly environment by withdrawing such decisions that hurt the self-respect, morale of the employees of the Securities Board and also diminish the decision authority of the Board.
