Kathmandu. The government has decided to reduce the capital gains tax on the stock market.

A meeting of the Council of Ministers held today decided to reduce the capital gains tax on share trading in the case of natural persons.

Likewise, long-term investors who sell their shares after 365 days from the date of purchase of their shares will have to pay 3.5 percent of their profits and 5 percent for short-term investors who sell their shares 365 days before the date of purchase.

Earlier, the investors had to pay 7.5 percent capital gains tax on the shares sold after 365 days and 10 percent on the shares sold before 365 days.
