The Association has provided the amount to support the rescue, relief and rehabilitation of the people affected by the floods in Rasuwa and the daily life of the locals.

According to Singh, the president of the association, it is the common responsibility of all citizens and professional organizations to support the rescue and relief campaign of the state during natural calamities. Under this social responsibility, the money has been collected from the members and well-wishers and contributed to the Prime Minister’s Natural Disaster Relief Fund.

The cheque handover ceremony was attended by the association’s president Singh and other office bearers and representatives. The team also urged the government and the concerned authorities to make the rescue and relief work of the people affected by floods and other natural disasters effective.

The Diploma Engineers Association is an organization established for the professional rights, capacity development and professional rights of the middle level technical manpower i.e. sub-engineers. The association has said that the middle level technical manpower has an important role in the infrastructure development of the country and has been taking various initiatives to institutionalize their professional identity and rights.

According to the association, sub-engineers and diploma-level technical manpower have been playing important roles in infrastructure construction, roads, drinking water, irrigation, building and other development works across the country. However, the association believes that there is a need for more clarity and institutional arrangements regarding their professional rights, certification and regulation.

To address this issue, a proposal has been put forward to form a Diploma Engineering Council on the initiative of the association. According to the association, the provision related to the formation of the council has been presented to the parliament through the Ministry of Infrastructure Development.

According to the association, if the proposed system is implemented, it will pave the way for technical human resources working at diploma level and working in middle level to get certification and professional recognition as per their educational and professional qualifications.

The association hopes that with the formation of the Diploma Engineering Council, there will be more clarity on professional regulation, verification, capacity building and protection of the rights and interests of sub-engineers and diploma level technical manpower. The association believes that this will help to make the role of the middle-level technical manpower involved in the infrastructure development of the country more systematic and dignified.

The association has said that it will continue its support on the issues of disaster and social concern in the coming days as well. It has also said that it will continue to coordinate and take necessary initiatives with the government and related agencies for the professional rights and institutional recognition of diploma-level technical manpower.
