KATHMANDU — Prime Minister Balendra (Balen) Shah has said that the entire state machinery has been mobilized for the rescue of the flood-affected areas at the earliest.
Through his Facebook page, Prime Minister Shah informed about the latest situation and rescue operations in the flood-affected areas. “With hope and belief, we all have to face this disaster together,” he wrote, “I express my heartfelt gratitude to all those who joined hands in this process.” ’
Shah also said that the government is engaged in rescue and relief work as soon as possible at this time of calamity that the country is facing in an unimaginable way. “We are facing this hour of disaster together with the support and cooperation of the entire country, Nepalis around the world and the international community,” he said.
According to Prime Minister Shah, rescue flights have already started from 6:30 am today. “More than 15 flights have been conducted since this morning and more helicopters are on standby for flights,” he said.
Prime Minister Shah also informed that the Nepal Army was successful in rescuing 116 people from Timure of Rasuwa district through the rescue operation conducted this morning. “Among the rescued, 95 are Nepalis and 21 are Indian nationals,” he said, adding that seven Nepalis were also successfully rescued from the tunnel. ’
Shah said that the work of transporting essential aid materials is being done at a rapid pace. “Generators, portable mobile towers, medical equipment, tents, iron and stone cutting machines are being transported to the affected areas,” he said.
Shah said that soon there will be a temporary arrangement of mobile network and mobile charging in the disaster-affected areas. “This will help in establishing connectivity,” he said.
According to Shah, a temporary camp has been set up in Nuwakot. “Food and water have been arranged,” he said.
Prime Minister Shah expressed the belief that the collection of information from all places through drone survey is in the final stage, which will help in efficient rescue and relief. “Priority will be given to the sick, elderly, women and children in the helicopter during the rescue operation,” he said, “We request everyone to wait for the rescue and relief with patience and restraint and face this disaster.” ’
