Kathmandu. There are many myths about smartphone charging. For example, you can sleep with the phone plugged in all night, let the phone’s battery drop to zero percent, or charge it up to 100 percent repeatedly. Here are some facts you need to know.

Although these phone charging habits may seem normal, they can be harmful to your device’s battery. Experts and research show that only by understanding a few basic rules can you protect both the life and safety of your battery.

Crest

First, understand that most modern smartphone batteries are lithium-ion. Scientifically, it’s not a good idea to drain a lithium-ion battery completely or charge it to full capacity repeatedly.

According to experts, draining water completely or reducing the battery to zero percent can shorten its lifespan. So it’s better to use a shorter charging cycle. Many people wait for their phone’s battery to drain completely.

It is often said that charging at 100 percent damages the battery. Some experiments have shown that repeatedly keeping the battery in a high voltage state, i.e. at 100% for an extended period of time, can cause long-term damage.

Limiting the battery to 80 percent is considered good for the life of the battery. Today’s smartphones, however, have advanced battery management systems to minimize this damage. Still, try to keep your phone between 20 percent and 80 percent most of the time on a daily basis.

There’s also a lot of debate about fast charging. Some studies suggest that charging too fast puts stress on the battery and can shorten its lifespan. However, good quality chargers and smart battery management systems prevent this damage to a great extent. That is, if you’re using an original or certified charger, charging fast won’t do significant damage.

Now let’s talk about the most common and dangerous mistakes. Charging your phone can get too hot while gaming, watching a video, or lying in bed. This not only damages the battery but also increases the risk of fire. So keep your phone in a cool and open place while charging.

Another mistake many people make is using fake or local chargers. These chargers don’t regulate the voltage properly, nor do they have safety circuits. This not only damages the phone’s battery but also increases the risk of electrical short circuits.

So what should you do in such a situation? If possible, keep your phone from charging to 80%. Avoid wasting it at 0 percent. Use the original charger and reduce your phone usage while charging to prevent overheating. These small changes will extend the life of your battery and reduce security risks.
