Kathmandu. Chairman of Nepal Insurance Authority (INSURANCE) Sharad Ojha has directed the insurance companies to increase the use of information technology and manage data properly to facilitate the insurance sector as a whole. Addressing a discussion and interaction programme on the use of information technology in the insurance sector and data management organized by the NRA with insurers in Lalitpur today, Chairman Ojha stressed the need to increase the use of information technology for the development of the insurance industry despite the increase in cost.
Chairman Ojha said, “What kind of data related to insurance is necessary, what is not, what is not needed in the long term, what is needed in the long term, the data should be stored accordingly, the capacity to store the data needed for the long term should be developed, for this the AUTHORITY also makes necessary arrangements, the insurers also need to make appropriate arrangements.” ”
Instructing the insurers to submit the financial statements and data to the AUTHORITY on time as per the law, Chairman Ojha said, “Accurate data received on time will also help in the decision-making process, data should be used to increase the insurance business, the AUTHORITY is always ready to address the complaints of insurance companies related to information technology and data management.” ”
Chairman Ojha also directed the insurance company to prepare and revise the correct data in a realistic manner so that the data to be made public, submitted to the AUTHORITY and the data to be published would not be different.
Executive Director of Nepal Insurance Authority Sushil Dev Subedi said that the program has been organized with the objective of further refining the work in this regard by making the coordination between nea and insurers more effective in the use of information technology and data management in the insurance sector.
Nepal Insurance Authority (NEA) Director Pujan Dhungel Adhikari pointed out the need for insurance companies to make the use of information technology and data management more reliable and accountable.
On the occasion, Deputy Director of Nepal Insurance Authority Rabindra Shrestha made separate presentations on the use of information technology in the insurance sector and statistician Basanta Prasad Bohara made separate presentations on data management of insurers.
Employees of information technology and data management section of insurance companies, micro insurance companies and reinsurance companies participated in the program.
