Kathmandu. US President Donald Trump has imposed new tariffs starting April 2. He has also announced that this day will be celebrated as Liberation Day for America.
Many countries will fall under Trump’s new tariffs. However, here are 15 countries that will be most affected by the tariffs. There is no clarity yet about Trump’s tariffs. The Trump administration has repeatedly said that the current trade rules benefit other countries more than the US.
US Treasury Secretary Scott Besant recently mentioned the Dirty 15 countries that will impose heavy tariffs on the US. However, Besant did not reveal the names of these 15 countries. However, the US Department of Commerce’s 2024 Trade Deficit Report provides some clues. According to the report, the countries with the largest trade deficits with the US are China, the European Union, Mexico, Vietnam, Ireland, Germany, Taiwan, Japan, South Korea, Canada, India, Thailand, Italy, Switzerland, Malaysia and Indonesia.
It is believed that these countries could be hit hard by Trump’s tariffs. In addition, the US Trade Representative’s office has highlighted 21 countries that are not suitable for US transactions. These countries are Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, the European Union, India, Indonesia, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, Mexico, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Switzerland, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, the UK and Vietnam. However, Trump’s attention is currently focused on these 15 countries. Trump recently indicated that more countries could be affected by the new trade tariffs.
These new tariffs will be imposed on many countries and industries. Trump previously imposed tariffs on steel and aluminum. Heavy tariffs have been imposed on foreign vehicles and Chinese products. In addition, it is said that tariffs will also be imposed on pharmaceuticals and semiconductors. –Agency
