According to the data released by the Nepal Rastra Bank, 20 commercial banks have spent a total of Rs 55.13 billion in the current fiscal year. Last year, 2081. Rastriya Banijya Bank was the largest spender in the review period while Citizens Bank was ahead in terms of spending growth. Compared to the previous year, the expenses of 15 banks have increased while the expenses of five banks have decreased. One bank’s expenses have stagnated.
Rastriya Banijya Bank (RBB) has spent Rs 4.54 billion in salary allowances of its employees till mid-June of the current fiscal year. In the same period of the previous year, the bank spent Rs 3.89 billion. Compared to the previous year, such expenses of the bank increased by 16.59 percent.
Similarly, Nabil Bank is the second highest consumer in salary and allowances of employees. As of mid-May, the bank has spent a total of Rs 3.76 billion. It had spent Rs 3.33 billion in the same period of the previous year. Compared to the previous year, the bank’s expenses increased by 12.91 percent.
Global IME Bank is the third highest spender. In the review period of the previous year, the bank spent Rs 3.58 billion on salaries and allowances of its employees, which increased by 4.72 percent to Rs 3.75 billion in the review period.
As of the review period, Standard Chartered Bank has spent the least amount on salary and allowances of employees. The bank has spent Rs 96.14 crore. The bank had spent Rs 96.20 crore in the same period last year. The bank’s expenses decreased by 0.06 percent in the review period compared to the previous year.
Standard Chartered Bank, Kumari Bank, Himalayan Bank, NIC Asia Bank and NMB Bank have seen a decrease in their salary and allowances compared to the previous year.
Similarly, Citizen Life has spent Rs 1.90 billion in salary and allowances till mid-May. It was 20.48 percent more than the previous year. This increase is higher than other banks.
