Kathmandu. The government has prepared a National Action Plan for Monsoon Preparedness and Response.
The action plan was prepared by the National Risk Reduction and Management Authority under the Ministry of Home Affairs. During the 4 months of the monsoon, there are losses and losses due to natural disasters. Monsoon arrives in Nepal from the end of May.
This action plan has been prepared to deal with the same disaster, rescue the victims immediately and make necessary coordination.
The objectives of the action plan are
To predict the possible risk of monsoon-induced disasters by analyzing data on past disaster incidents and impacts.
To determine the responsibilities of the bodies related to disaster management for monsoon preparedness and response.
To minimize damage by making monsoon response effective by formulating coordinated and integrated activities in monsoon preparedness and response.
According to the action plan, 2,358 incidents of natural disasters took place from 2073 BS to 2082 BS. As many as 678 people were killed, 269 missing and 215 injured. A total of 23,805 families were affected by these incidents. A total of 2,248 houses were damaged. A total of 2,378 cattle were damaged.
A total of 26,219 security personnel will be mobilized across the country for disaster response during the monsoon this year, according to the action plan. A total of 7,524 personnel are from the Nepal Army, 10,585 from the Nepal Police and 8,110 from the Armed Police Force (including 134 divers).
Similarly, 1,404 trained volunteers will be mobilized across the country. The Nepal Red Cross Society will also mobilize 12,674 volunteers.
How much is in the disaster fund?
A total of Rs 7.56 billion and USD 84,797 has been deposited in the Disaster Management Fund at the central, provincial and district levels.
