Kathmandu. The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) is set to release the fiscal year 2019/20. A budget of Rs 25.76 billion has been brought for 83. Deputy Mayor Sunita Dangol presented the budget at the 17th Municipal Assembly of the metropolis today. Before the budget, Mayor Balen Sah had presented policies and programmes.
According to the budget, rs 25.11 billion will be spent on the consolidated fund and Rs 650 million will be spent on other external expenses.
Under the sector-wise budget and programmes, 3 percent (Rs 753.43 million) of the total budget has been proposed for economic development, 20 percent (Rs 5.22 billion) for social development, 51 percent (Rs 12.80 billion for infrastructure development) and 12 percent (Rs 3.01 billion for good governance and inter-related sectors). 14 percent (Rs 3.51 billion) has been proposed for office operation and administrative sector.
Infrastructure projects within the Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) have been given high priority in the upcoming fiscal year. Waste management, improvement in school education system, promotion of good governance, capacity building of urban health promotion centers, promotion of one ward one enterprise program and employment and income enhancement have also been given high priority.
