Kathmandu. The non-life insurance companies have to pay about Rs 23.47 billion in claims for a total of 3,316 insurance claims for physical and other damages caused during the recent Genji agitation. According to the latest data from the insurance companies, the insurance companies have so far paid about Rs 5.48 billion to the insured including advance payment.
According to the latest data received from 14 non-life insurance companies and four micro non-life insurance companies, out of the total claim amount paid by the companies, around Rs 3.93 billion out of Rs 19.05 billion has been paid for 712 claims towards property insurance and about Rs 1.39 billion out of 2,321 claims towards motor insurance has been paid.
Similarly, about Rs 83.6 million out of 226 claims under engineering and contract risk insurance, about Rs 15.5 million out of 12 claims under transport insurance and Rs 50 million out of Rs 384 million for other insurance claims.
Nepal Reinsurance Company (NBIN) has paid a total of Rs 3.02 billion in advance claims to the non-life insurance companies for the physical and other damages caused during the GenG agitation. According to the updated data of Nepal Reinsurance Company, the total amount to be paid for 2,863 claims received from 14 non-life insurance companies is around Rs 16.62 billion.
