In five months, Rs. More than Rs 28.83 billion from life and non-life insurers?

Kathmandu. Current fiscal year 2082. Insurance companies have paid a total of Rs 28.83 billion in claims till mid-December of the current fiscal year.

According to the Insurance Reflection released by the Nepal Insurance Authority, insurance companies have paid a total of Rs 28.83 billion till the end of the current fiscal year. Out of which Rs 18.42 billion has been paid by life insurance companies. This payment is 90,414 claims.

In the previous year, life insurers had paid Rs 17.27 billion for 86,307 claims. During the review period, the number of claim payments of life insurers increased by 4.76 percent and the amount increased by 6.62 percent.

Similarly, the non-life insurance companies have paid Rs 10.41 billion for 56,240 claims till mid-December of the current fiscal year. In the same period of the previous year, non-life insurers had paid Rs 7.74 billion for 52,145 claims. The number of claims and amount of non-life insurers increased by 7.85 percent and 34.42 percent respectively in the review period compared to the previous year. The claim payment amount of non-life insurers has increased due to the huge loss caused by the Jenji agitation in August and the floods and landslides of September.

According to the data till mid-December of the current fiscal year, life and non-life insurers are yet to pay claims worth Rs 54.89 billion. Out of this, life insurers have filed 58,646 claims and non-life insurers have filed 109,900 claims of Rs 49.79 billion.
