Kathmandu. U.S. President Donald Trump has said that Greenland will soon begin large-scale oil, gas and mineral exploration. Trump said, “Some experts say that the amount of oil that is easily available there is more than almost any other part of the world.” ’
“More importantly, its strategic importance to both the United States and Europe for defense and offensive military operations is unparalleled,” Trump wrote. “Any future attacks on the United States will have to pass through Greenland.” ’
According to Trump, the U.S. defense system in Greenland will routinely shoot down drones, missiles or any weapon not yet imagined. “It gives us time, strategic positioning, and long-range capability that is not available anywhere else in the world,” he said.
US President Trump, Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen and Greenland Prime Minister Jens-Friedrich Nielsen signed a three-party security agreement during the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York on September 22.
