Kathmandu. The country’s trade deficit has increased. This is according to the data released by the Department of Customs till May of the current fiscal year.
The country’s trade deficit reached Rs 1,616.13 billion in the review period. Previous fiscal year 2081. The trade deficit stood at Rs 1,397.22 billion in mid-May 2018. Compared to the previous year, the trade deficit increased by 15.67 percent.
Similarly, goods worth Rs 1,894.09 billion were imported till mid-May of the current fiscal year. Nepal had imported goods worth Rs 1.644 trillion in the same period of the previous year. Compared to the previous year, the import of goods increased by 15.16 percent.
Nepal has exported goods worth Rs 277.96 billion till mid-May. Nepal had exported goods worth Rs 247.57 billion in the previous fiscal year. Compared to the previous year, the export of goods increased by 12.28 percent.
The country’s total foreign trade increased by 14.78 percent to Rs 2.172 trillion.
