Rs 5 billion allocated for suspension bridge construction and expansion programme

Kathmandu. The government has allocated Rs 5 billion under the suspension bridge construction and expansion programme. Presenting the budget for the coming fiscal year today, Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle said that the budget has been allocated to provide safe transportation facilities to the people of remote and rural areas.

The government has taken suspension bridges as an important basis for the development of rural infrastructure. Priority has been given to the construction of bridges to facilitate mobility, education, health and business activities of the local people especially in the hilly and mountainous districts where road access is weak.
