Kathmandu. Various major and auxiliary road sections of the country have been obstructed due to floods, landslides and construction work. Commuters have been requested to use alternative routes after some important highways and roads connecting the federal capital Kathmandu with eastern and southern districts remained closed.
According to a notice issued by Nepal Police Headquarters, the Khurkot-Nepalthok-Katunjebesi road section of the BP Highway linking Kavrepalanchowk and Sindhuli has been completely banned for vehicular movement.TAG_OPEN_p_14 All vehicular movement has been prohibited from 18:00 pm to 04:00 am every day until further notice.
Apart from this, Indrasarovar Rural Municipality Ward No. The Kulekhani-Fakhel-Humane-Pharping-Kathmandu road section has been completely closed in the Mahalaxmi River area of Ward No. 2 and 4. The road has been closed for about a month until the construction work is completed as the work of grading around 100 meters has started at the site. Arrangements have been made to send the vehicles plying through this section as an alternative route via Sisneri-Dakshinkali.
Similarly, Chandragiri Municipality Ward No. 09. The road leading to Chitlang of Makwanpur from Satungal has been completely obstructed due to landslide near Deurali Devisthan. With the agreement to repair this road, this road section has also been closed for 1 month for repair work.
Thaha Municipality Ward No. Vehicular movement has been restricted in Chitlang area as the Thankot-Chitlang road is being constructed and improved. Vehicular movement from Panighat to Chitlang Bazaar has been closed till June 29 due to the increase in the risk of accidents and obstruction in the construction works. Commuters have been asked to use the Palung-Naubise or Markhu-Kulekhani section as alternative routes.
Lamjung’s Madhya Nepal Municipality Ward No. 10. The landslide occurred along the Mid-Hill Highway at Bimirebhanjyang. The highway has been completely blocked due to the landslide and efforts are on to clear the road.
The Nepal TAG_OPEN_p_9 Police Headquarters has requested the local administration or police to inquire about the condition of the road and use the designated alternative routes before traveling through these road sections.
