Insurance Authority Conducts Interaction on Insurance Education in School Level Textbooks

Kathmandu. Nepal Insurance Authority (NEA) organized an interaction and discussion program with the Curriculum Development Centre, National Examination Board, Educational Quality Assessment Center and Social Studies subject committees, experts and writers on the topics related to insurance education to be included in the social studies textbooks at the NEA central office, Kupandole today.

The program has been organized with the objective of discussing the inclusion of insurance education in the course of revising and rewriting the textbooks of social studies, which is a compulsory subject at the school level.

On the occasion, Chairman of Nepal Insurance Authority (NEA) Janak Raj Sharma stressed on the need of developing insurance as an integral part of human life by including the necessity and importance of insurance in the textbooks from the school level.

Sharma said, “It is necessary to create awareness about insurance from a young age, it is necessary to make people aware that insurance provides financial security to human life and property, it will increase the scope of insurance, reduce the cost, reduce risk and contribute to the economic development of the country.” ”

Yubaraj Poudel, Director General of the Curriculum Development Centre under the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, said that the curriculum has included the insurance content with the objective of enabling students to understand the insurance in course of the school level study and to make others aware of the insurance after the study.

Director General Poudel said that the subject matter related to insurance education would be included in a balanced manner in the context of the Curriculum Development Center going to revise the school level curriculum.

Executive Director of Curriculum Development Center, Tribhuvan University and Chairman of the Social Studies Subject Committee, Prof. Dr. On the occasion, Dr Ram Krishna Tiwari urged the concerned officials, subject experts and writers to reflect the topics related to insurance while writing social studies textbooks and preparing question papers.

In his welcome speech, Executive Director of Nepal Insurance Authority Sushil Dev Subedi said that the curriculum development center would be provided with suggestions after identifying the topics related to insurance education that can be included in the proposed curriculum, textbooks and teachers guideline of social studies at the school level.

On the occasion, Deputy Director of Nepal Insurance Authority Padam Prasad Sodari gave a presentation on insurance education.

In the program, a detailed discussion was held on the possible topics related to insurance education in the proposed curriculum of classes 4 to 12 under social studies. The program was attended by officials of Curriculum Development Center, National Examination Board, Educational Quality Assessment Center and Social Studies Committee, experts and writers and officials of Nepal Insurance Authority.
