Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: The Health Insurance Board (HIB) has clarified that it has not reduced the treatment expenses of the insured in the health insurance scheme.

The board issued a public notice clarifying this. “It is misleading to say that the health insurance scheme has reduced the medical expenses of up to Rs 100,000 annually for a family up to five members of the insurance scheme,” reads the notice. The total service limit available to the insured remains unchanged. ’

A family (maximum of five) has been provided Rs 25,000 annually and each additional member Rs 5,000 in order to manage the OPD services in a cost-effective and equitable manner. “The remaining amount can be used through Inpatient Service (IPD) and Emergency Health Services. ’

“This decision is a responsible step taken to protect the sustainability of the health insurance fund in the event of a financial crisis, to prevent unnecessary and duplicate services, and to secure resources for critical, complex and life-saving medical care, including admissions and emergency and emergency services,” the statement said.
