Kathmandu. The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences has announced the selection of Francis Halgen for the 2026 Nobel Prize in Physics.
The award comes for his decisive contributions to the IceCube Neutrino Observatory and the discovery of high-energy neutrinos from astronomical sources.
Mark Pierce, chairman of the Nobel Committee, praised Halzen for “leading an international team of researchers and engineers who have provided scientists with remarkable tools”. ’
According to Pierce, Halgen’s tenacity and scientific approach have laid the foundation for a new era in astronomy. -Agency
