Kathmandu. A flight in Canada has been cancelled after a child refused to wear a seat belt. The incident has reignited a debate about etiquette and safety procedures for children traveling on flights.

The Porter Airlines flight was due to depart from Victoria to Toronto on August 6 but had to return to the terminal. A small child was standing in his seat and was not wearing his seat belt.

The flight failed to depart later as the runway was closed at night. As a result, all passengers had to rebook for the next day’s flight.

The incident has sparked a debate about how to treat children in such situations and what airlines should do in such a situation. “Efforts by the parents and crew to resolve the issue were unsuccessful,” Porter Airlines said in a statement. So the crew chose to return to the terminal and disembark both passengers from the plane. —Angel
