Dolakha. The currency museum built by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Bagmati Province has been formally handed over to Bhimeshwor Municipality-2 in Dolakha. The museum, constructed with the participation of local governments, is seen as an important infrastructure for tourism and cultural preservation.
On the occasion, Minister for Culture and Tourism of Bagmati Province, Suresh Shrestha, said that the Ministry was working to bring into use any structures that have been left unattended. He also expressed his confidence that the opening of this museum in Dolakha would develop Nepal as a suitable destination for the explorers and observers of currency.
On the occasion, Secretary at the Ministry Dipendra Subedi expressed his confidence that the museum would be a destination for study and observation for tourists in the coming days.
Minister of Bagmati Province Suresh Shrestha, Secretary at the Ministry Dipendra Subedi and Chief of Project Unit Office, Kathmandu Uttam Chapagain were also present on the occasion. They expressed the belief that the museum would play a big role in highlighting the historical and cultural identity of Dolakha.
The museum was handed over to Bhimeshwor municipality mayor Ishwor Narayan Manandhar, deputy mayor Kamala Basnet and ward no 2 chair Stalin Shrestha. Mayor Manandhar said that the museum would be made effective and used for tourism development.
During the program, the speakers said that the museum was established with the objective of preserving and displaying Nepal’s ancient coins, historical coins and economic history. It is expected to attract students, researchers and tourists.
The local level has said it will formulate necessary plan to operate the museum in a long-term manner. It is also aimed at promoting domestic and foreign tourism by developing it as the main attraction of Dolakha visit.
