Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: The Communist Party of Nepal (CPN) has made public its commitment letter for the upcoming House of Representatives election scheduled for March 4. The manifesto has presented concrete plans for the insurance sector, banking, workers, farmers and social security.
The manifesto has made the insurance sector the main basis for social security and economic risk reduction.
Insurance Sector Health Insurance Compulsory and Agricultural Insurance Reform:
Compulsory health insurance will be made compulsory for all citizens and health services especially targeted at women will be expanded. Agriculture and livestock insurance The insurance system will be made effective to provide prompt and equitable compensation for the loss of crops and livestock caused by natural disasters or wildlife.
Social security and insurance programs have also been prioritized for workers who are in foreign employment and domestic workers.
Farmers and Agriculture Sector Land Reform and Direct Support:
The Declaration advocated for a just land system for the benefit of the peasants. The government has set a target to make Nepal landless squatters-free by distributing land ownership certificates to landless Dalits, landless squatters and unsystematic settlers within two years.
Market and price guarantee: Minimum Support Price (MSP) will be fixed before the commencement of production and the farmers themselves will be allowed to fix the market price. Provision will be made to provide 25 percent interest subvention on commercial loans to women farmers and entrepreneurs.
Banking and Financial Sector New Phase of Economic Reforms:
The government has set a target of achieving 10 per cent economic growth rate in the next five years.
Financial inclusion, banking, and financial services will be digitized and cashless administration and service system will be developed. Foreign investment will be linked to production and employment by enhancing the investment capacity of the domestic private sector.
Workers’ and Social Security Rights and Respects:
Equal wages will be strictly enforced by the same wage policy for the same work. Social security allowance for senior citizens, single women and persons with disabilities will be increased in such a way that they can lead a dignified life.
The goal of scientific socialism is to establish collective ownership of the means of production by ending the class exploitation of the working class for the rights of the workers.
The Communist Party of Nepal (CPN) has presented a roadmap to bring drastic changes in the economic structure of the country through these plans and to build an independent and prosperous Nepal.
