Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) has proposed to prohibit bank employees from joining politics and ban them from resorting to demonstrations and strikes.

The central bank has proposed to bring various provisions to prevent bank employees from indulging in political activities in the draft amending the Employees Service Bylaw issued as a model. The NRB has proposed that employees should not be allowed to become members of a political party or to be a candidate for a political post or to solicit votes for any purpose or influence in any way. However, it has been made clear in the draft that there will be no obstacles to the registration of the organization as per the prevailing law and to exercise the right to vote and to represent in professional organizations (such as Nepal Bar Association, Nepal Medical Association, Nepal Chartered Accountant Association, Nepal Management Association, Nepal Teachers Association, etc.).
