Kathmandu. At least 12 people have been killed and 309 injured in an attack on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia.
According to local officials, some of the injured are in critical condition. Airport operations have been suspended after the attack. According to aviation tracking website FlightRadar, all flights to Riyadh have been diverted or canceled.
According to the Saudi Civil Aviation Authority, the dead included four Saudi nationals, two Bangladeshi nationals and one each from the United States, Jordan, Palestine, Syria, Sudan and Egypt. Officials said they were assessing the damage at the airport.
The Saudi-led military coalition has blamed Yemen’s Houthi rebels for the attack. The coalition has declared the attack a “war crime” and warned of retaliation.
Coalition spokesman Maj. Gen. Turki al-Maliki said the attack on the airport’s passenger terminal killed civilian passengers and airport staff and wounded many others. He described the attack as a serious war crime. -Agency
