Kathmandu. The practice of making public the annual ‘Insurance Policy and Program’ started by the Nepal Insurance Authority from last year has been delayed in the current fiscal year 2083. It has been delayed in 84. Even after the first quarter of the current fiscal year, the Authority has not made public the insurance policy and program.
For the first time in the 57-year history of the Authority, the policy and program of the last fiscal year 2082. In 83, the then chairman Sharad Ojha had unveiled the policies and programs. The policies and programs of the last fiscal year were brought by the NRA within the last week of July. The NEA has not brought the policies and programs for the current fiscal year even though the month of September has passed.
The Insurance Authority announced the annual policy and program, but did not implement it
The policy and program acts as a guide for the authority. It provides guidance for the insurer to carry out insurance plans, services and other activities in line with the objectives and goals of the authority. The policies and programs also serve as a standard for the stakeholders to check the work of the authority and the status of implementation of the announced commitments.
NRA’s annual policies and programmes likely to remain on paper
Pujan Dhungel Adhikari, director and spokesperson of the Insurance Authority, said that the insurance policy and program has not been made public as the order has not been received from above. “In the last fiscal year, the then chairman Sharad Ojha had decided to make it public, but this time the order has not come from above,” she said, “But we will discuss this matter as it is a matter of public interest.” ’
