NLG Insurance Organizes Agriculture and Livestock Insurance Awareness Program in Salyan

Kathmandu. NLG Insurance Company Limited, Salyan branch organized an awareness and interaction program on agriculture and livestock insurance at Triveni Rural Municipality-5. The company has organized this program with the objective of bringing farmers under the ambit of insurance.

Anurag Bohara, head of NLG Insurance’s Salyan branch, said that the company has been conducting a campaign to inform farmers about agriculture and livestock insurance for the past few years. Presenting the insurance as an effective means of managing the farmers’ risk and financial security, he said the Company was continuously active to make maximum number of farmers accessible to the insurance.

Similarly, Section Chief Bohara addressed the various queries raised by the participants and provided detailed information about the provisions of agriculture and livestock insurance, claim process, need and importance of insurance.

Chief guest of the program and Chairman of Triveni Rural Municipality-5, Bimal Rawat, urged the farmers to make the farmers understand the importance of insurance. He also requested the farmers to take maximum benefit of the 80 percent insurance subsidy provided by the government in agriculture and livestock insurance. He said that the insurance would provide great relief to the farmers in case of losses due to natural calamities, diseases and various other risks.

Livestock insurance, food and crop insurance policy, vegetable crop insurance policy, fruits and other agricultural products insurance were discussed in detail on the occasion.

The participating farmers were informed about the ALIS system of agricultural and livestock insurance and the issue of insurance policies and claim payment process would also be conducted through the same system. It has made the insurance process more transparent, simple and effective.

Similarly, Section Chief Bohara urged the farmers to benefit from the existing 80 percent government subsidy facility and expressed commitment to carry out such awareness programs in a more extensive way in the coming days.

A total of 43 farmers and stakeholders from different localities of Triveni Rural Municipality-5 participated in the program. On the occasion, the participants presented their queries, problems and suggestions related to agriculture and livestock insurance and said that the programme was useful and fruitful.

Executive member Ratna Kumari Bohara, ward members Dharma Bahadur Gharti and Gauri B. Shrestha were present on the occasion. a. and Leela Mani Giri, ward secretary Devraj B. a. Social campaigner Gyanendra Pun, Chairman of Tole Development Organization Tek Bahadur Bohora, people’s representatives, government employees and local leaders were present on the occasion.

Expressing gratitude to all stakeholders, people’s representatives, employees and farmers who supported to make the program a success, NLG Insurance Company Limited’s Business Coordinator Sunil Shrestha said that the campaign will be continued to increase insurance awareness at the doorstep of the farmers.
