The purpose of the people electing the government is to improve good governance, development, employment generation and people’s livelihood in the country. But the current situation is showing a different picture.

The government’s policy seems to be focused on increasing foreign loans. In order to get a loan, you need to look good on economic indicators, especially GDP. Inflation can also be one of the reasons for GDP growth. In addition, the government has expanded the tax rate and scope in various sectors to increase revenue. But the question arises: “What did the people get the direct benefit of all this?”

Today, the tax burden has increased in most areas. The price hike in the market has made the general public shiver. Trade and business are slow, industries are not running as expected and employment opportunities have not increased. In such a situation, how will the people pay the increased tax?

Another question is equally serious. Where is the loan taken by the government being spent? Is it being invested in development or in the salaries and allowances of personal secretaries, advisors and high-ranking officials?

It has been almost 6 months since the formation of the government. However, there has been no significant achievement in this period, such as concrete development work, creation of new jobs or providing relief to the people.

Therefore, the question naturally arises in the minds of the people, “What did the people vote for?”

If the government is only focused on raising taxes, adding debt and increasing the financial burden of the people, then it will increase the risk of pushing the country and the people towards an economic crisis.

Now, the government should prioritise development, production, employment and good governance to win people’s trust. This is the responsible governance that the people expect.
