Kathmandu. Every year the list of the most powerful countries in the world is released. It assesses the strength of countries on more than 60 parameters. A list is then released.
This year, the United States is once again at the top of the 2026 rankings. The Global Fire Index 2026 list of countries based on current military strength is as follows:
US
The United States is the most powerful country in the world. Its military and economic power is unmatched by any other country. The U.S. military budget is the largest in the world. The firepower of the U.S. military is unparalleled. The U.S. is facing its biggest challenge from China. Russia is working to stabilize itself militarily.
rus
Russia is the second most powerful country in the world. Russia has the largest number of nuclear weapons in the world. However, it has deployed fewer nuclear warheads on missiles than the United States. Russia is trying to maintain its military power after suffering heavy losses in the war in Ukraine. Despite this, it remains among the world’s superpowers.
China
China is the third most powerful country in the world. It is rapidly growing in economic and military power. China has the world’s largest navy in terms of numbers. It also has the second largest air force in the world. However, China lags far behind the US and Russia in terms of nuclear weapons. Still, it is rapidly expanding its military power.
Bharat
India is the fourth most powerful country in the world. India’s military is one of the largest military powers in the world. Apart from this, India’s air and naval power is also increasing rapidly. India is also rapidly developing missiles and operating a variety of weapons, including the BrahMos-like missiles. India has recently demonstrated its military prowess during Operation Sindoor.
South Korea

Japan is the seventh most powerful country in the world. Although Japan calls its military a self-defense force, its military strength is very important. It faces threats from China and Russia. With which it has a dispute over the islands. It is significantly advanced in areas such as tanks, warships and radar production.
UK
Britain is the eighth most powerful country in the world. It is also a permanent member of NATO and the United Nations Security Council. It operates nuclear-powered aircraft carriers and submarines. Britain and the United States are each other’s biggest military allies.
Turkey
Turkey is the ninth most powerful country in the world. Its military power has grown significantly in recent years. Turkey is a major NATO member. Turkey’s drone industry is considered very advanced. Its arms industry is also growing steadily. Turkey supplies weapons to countries that cannot afford Western and Russian weapons due to high costs and strict conditions.
