According to the Department of Industry, the commitment for foreign investment amounting to Rs 47.61 billion has been made for 914 industries till mid-June of the current fiscal year. These commitments have been received for 9 large, 11 medium and 894 small industries.
According to the Department, commitment of foreign investment amounting to Rs 2.29 billion has been made for 183 small industries and three medium industries in May alone.
It is estimated that 25,450 people would get employment from these industries which have received commitment for foreign investment till mid-June of the current fiscal year.
In the first 11 months of the current fiscal year, the commitment for investment has been made for the establishment of the highest number of industries in the information technology-based sector. Investment commitment of Rs 2.36 billion has been made for 577 industries in the region. That’s 5 percent of the total commitment.
Similarly, the highest amount of investment commitment has been made for the agriculture sector. According to the Department, till mid-May, commitments for foreign investment amounting to Rs 22.08 billion have been made for 16 industries. This is 46 percent of the total investment commitment.
Similarly, foreign investment commitment of Rs 12.99 billion (45.27 per cent) has been received for 202 industries in tourism sector, Rs 4.59 billion (10 per cent) for 62 industries in service sector, Rs 3.57 billion (8 per cent) for 52 industries in manufacturing sector and Rs 234.2 million (1 per cent) for two industries in energy sector. shows.
