Kathmandu. Independent Power Producers’ Association of Nepal (IPPAN) President Ganesh Karki said that Minister Biraj Bhakta Shrestha has the opportunity to write a name in the history of energy sector.

Karki said this while delivering the welcome speech at the 26th General Assembly and 8th convention of IPPAN. “The time has come to write our name in the history of energy. Until now, we used to call it Shailaja Acharya. But now we will be able to get the name of Biraj Bhakta Shrestha in that place,” he said.

According to Karki, the target set by the government in 2049 BS has enabled the country to enter into energy trade by ending load-shedding. He said that if the private sector had not entered, we would still have to face 16-hour load-shedding.

Stating that the budget and policies and programmes have been brought to address the problems of the private sector, Karki expressed the belief that it would be implemented. “The issues that we have been raising continuously for the last 2-3 years have also been included in the government’s policies, programmes and budget. So, we are confident that the work will be done now,” said Karki. Hopefully, it works. The PPA will be completed in 180 days. It’s not even 100 days. We hope that it works. ’

He also said that he was confident that the budget would be implemented. “There were a lot of things in the budget before that. But it could not be implemented. But this time, the government is close to two-thirds of the RSP. “The issues we have been raising have been reflected in the policies and programmes and the budget,” said Karki. ’

Karki also requested the government to extend the RCOD’s deadline. “We have been asking for an extension of the RCOD term for a very long time. However, the deadline has not been extended even after going to the board several times. We are hopeful that the minister will extend the deadline,” he said.

Karki also urged the government to resolve the issue, saying that the process of IPO has been stalled for a long time. “It’s been 2-3 years since I applied. But we don’t know when the IPO will be approved. We were asked to come from the Ministry of Finance. We also went through the Ministry of Finance. But our problem was not solved,” he said, “We are hopeful that the government will solve this problem.” ’
