Currently, the loans provided by banks and financial institutions to each other can be used only as interbank transactions or loans and not as regular loans. The duration of inter-bank credit is only 7 days.

However, as per the amended provision, loan transactions between licensed institutions for the purpose of implementing the programmes of the Government of Nepal operated with the help of international donor agencies will not be counted as interbank transactions or loans. The details of such programmes shall be provided to the Bank and Financial Institution Regulation Department and the concerned supervision department of the bank.
