Kathmandu. The first general meeting of the Association of Certified Management Accountants of Nepal has been held. The assembly held at Premier International School in Lalitpur on Saturday elected a new working committee for the next term.
Kumar Prasad Khatiwada has been elected the chairperson of the assembly. Likewise, Harindra Raj Ghimire has been elected the Vice-President, Keshav Raj Lamsal the General Secretary, Bhumi Raj Acharya the Secretary, Gyan Krishna Shrestha the Treasurer and Sharmila Munikar the Joint Treasurer.
Likewise, Sanu Babu Neupane, Radha Krishna Bhandari, Mamta Acharya, Sunil Rijal, Durga Devi Dangol, Ram Chandra Rupakheti and Sujata Chhetri have been elected as executive members. The term of the executive committee shall be two years.
Addressing the gathering, newly-elected President Kumar Prasad Khatiwada said that the role of Certified Management Accountants (CMAs) is important in the rapidly developing economy of Nepal. He expressed confidence that it will help reduce costs, manage risk and grow professionally by bridging the gap between traditional accounting and strategic leadership. He said that it was necessary to establish a regulatory body by formulating a legal cost audit law for economic prosperity. He informed that legal and procedural works have already progressed for this.
The AGM, organized with the objective of organizational strengthening and taking professional dignity to a new height, held important discussions on the future course of action and professional governance of the organization.
The organization believes that the role of the organization will be important at a time when skilled manpower with qualifications is necessary to make Nepali businesses competitive in the international market.
In addition, the meeting highlighted the importance of the budget formulation of Nepal, the works of public companies, determining the cost of public concern and the very important Cost Audit Act.
The AGM was enthusiastically attended by the office-bearers, members and stakeholders of the central working committee of the organization.
