Kathmandu. The Kaski District Court has ordered the arrest of Rastriya Swatantra Party (RPP) President Rabi Lamichhane on the charge of money laundering and organized crime.

A single bench of Justice Himlal Belbase issued the order on Friday. The court also ordered the government to return the money laundering and organized crime charges against GB Rai and Chhabilal Joshi.

Earlier, the then Attorney General Sabita Bhandari had filed an application at the District Court seeking to drop the two cases and keep the case intact. The court upheld the conviction of GB and Chhabi along with Ravi for money laundering and organised crime. The case of cooperative fraud against all three has been withdrawn.

As the petitioner’s demands are found to be reasonable, the order states that the original additional and supplementary charge sheets related to the petition have been amended so that the charge of cooperative fraud and other organized crime and money laundering will not be maintained.

Attorney General Bhandari had on January 12 last year decided to amend the case only in Ravi’s case. However, citing an error, she allowed all the other defendants, including GB and Chhabi, to amend the charges on January 2.
