Kathmandu. Nepal Insurance Board (NEB) has warned of action against those who buy medicines in cash under the health insurance package.
The Board issued a circular in the name of service providers associated with the health insurance program. “Complaints have been received that the medicines and medical products included in various packages of health insurance service are also being purchased from service providers and outside medicine shops in cash,” the circular reads, adding that these activities are against the Health Insurance Act, 2074 BS, Health Insurance Rules, 2075 BS and prevailing directives and working procedures. ’
The Insurance Board has directed the government not to carry out such activities and to fully comply with the prevailing Act, Regulations, Directives and Procedures. “Action will be taken as per the regulation if any service provider health institution is found violating the rules during the monitoring,” reads the circular.
