Kathmandu. Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) has warned people to sign only after understanding financial transactions.
The central bank issued a notice today to raise financial awareness. “In any financial transaction, both the financial service provider and the customer are bound by certain conditions. It is the legal obligation of both parties to fully comply with the terms,” the notice reads, “Therefore, instead of regretting tomorrow, we should ask questions until we understand the terms written on the paper before signing.” ’
Customers should read and understand the terms and conditions before availing financial services. “If you do not understand, you should keep a copy of the signed paper to be clear by asking the question and keep a copy of the signed paper,” the notice reads. ’
In addition, it is the responsibility of the customers to provide the information and details related to the transactions required by the financial service providers as per the rules. “It is the responsibility of the financial service provider to give correct and simple answers to the questions of the customers and to provide complete information and documents related to the customer’s transaction,” the notice reads.
