Kathmandu. The Bagmati Province Microfinance Members’ Conference concluded with the issuance of a seven-point declaration. The conference was inaugurated by the chief guest, Vice-Chairman of the National Planning Commission, Dr. Prakash Kumar Shrestha. More than 300 individuals and 24 organizations of Bagmati Province participated in the conference with the theme “Healthy Microfinance, Prosperous Members”.
In the conference jointly organized by Manushi Laghubitta, Swalamban Laghubitta, Chhimek Laghubitta, Suryodaya Bomi Laghubitta and Women Cooperative Savings and Credit Cooperative, eminent microfinance experts of Nepal expressed their views on the importance, need and contribution of microfinance in Nepal.
The conference, organized with the objective of making the microfinance program more member-oriented, effective and sustainable, expressed the commitment to encourage young members towards entrepreneurship, make all stakeholders more responsible and accountable and promote responsible microfinance practices.
Former Governor Dipendra Bahadur Chhetri, Chairman of Self-Finance Expert Self-Reliant Development Center Shankar Man Shrestha, Chairman of Nepal Microfinance Bankers’ Association Ram Bahadur Yadav and other speakers addressed the conference.
