Kathmandu. CBFIN has strongly objected to the incident of a group of borrowers led by responsible officials of the local level in a planned manner and behaved violently with the employees of the Jyoti Bikas Bank branch in Rupani of Saptari for hours at the request of the borrowers for a proper solution to the issue of the loan installment not being regularized for a long time.
The CBFIN has also strongly objected to the act of the local security bodies not registering the complaint of the victim immediately after the criminal incident and instead of bringing the culprits to book.
Sibifin condemned the incident as “extremely shameful, brutal and unacceptable behaviour”. Such attacks on sensitive sectors such as banks and financial institutions for vested interests will have a serious impact on the psychological health of the employees, so maximum action has been demanded against the culprits.
“This attack on banking sector employees is not only an individual or institutional challenge but also a direct challenge to the government of Nepal,” CBFIN said in a statement. Any attempt to damage the creditworthiness, dignity and assets of banks and financial institutions or to obstruct business should be viewed with sensitivity.
In order to ensure the safety of banks and staff and to create a safe and secure environment for the unhindered banking services, the Federal, State, local governments, and the Ministry of Home Affairs have been appealed to all the agencies responsible to ensure the safety and security of the banks and employees.
