Kathmandu. US President Donald Trump may give another blow to India on the tariff issue. Trump is considering imposing new tariffs on Indian rice.
Trump hinted that he would take a decision in response to the farmers’ complaints. “The government will investigate claims that many countries are dumping low-value rice into the US market,” Trump said. ’
According to Bloomberg, the Trump administration will consider imposing new tariffs on agricultural imports, specifically targeting Canadian fertilizers and Indian rice imports. “Our farmers complain that cheap foreign products are hurting them,” Trump said. ’
US President Donald Trump has announced a $12 billion bailout package for American farmers. Trump asked farmer representatives directly, “Which countries should be targeted for the next tariff?”
Merrill Kennedy, CEO of Kennedy Rice Mills, said, “India, Thailand and China are the most important names. The tariffs are working but we need to double them. ’
