Insurance claim of Rs 4.75 billion for floods and landslides, how much has been paid so far?

Kathmandu. The non-life insurance companies have to pay a total of Rs 3.77 billion for 744 initial insurance claims due to the incessant rains and landslides in different parts of the country since October 3. Out of this, the companies have paid about Rs 1.14 crore to the insured so far.

According to the updated information received from 13 non-life insurance companies and 2 micro non-life insurance companies, 405 claims for property insurance from non-life insurance companies amounted to Rs 6.4 million out of Rs 3.21 billion, and 104 claims towards engineering and contract risk insurance of Rs 1,54,000 out of Rs 476.6 million. According to the Nepal Insurance Authority, out of around Rs 41.4 million claimed for 210 claims under agriculture and crop insurance, about Rs 1 lakh has been paid to the insured and about Rs 48.82 million has been paid to the insured for 40 claims under motor insurance (private).

Similarly, about 10 claims under motor insurance (public), around Rs 1.2 million for two claims under other insurance and about 10 claims for three claims under marine insurance have not been paid so far.
