Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: Nurses of the agitating private sector hospitals and government representatives have reached an agreement on Saturday demanding proper salaries and facilities.
A tripartite memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed on Saturday evening between the talks team of nurses from across the country, representatives of the Ministry of Health and Population and operators of medical colleges putting forth a 15-point demand. The group of nurses who claimed to represent Jenji in the negotiations refused to sign the memorandum of understanding.
Spokesperson of the Ministry of Health Dr. Prakash Budhathoki has agreed to provide a monthly salary of Rs 34,730 per month from private medical colleges and big private hospitals. Apart from this, other private hospitals will provide 80 percent of the salary of this amount for now and within a month the hospitals will be classified at par with the government.
The term of the study task force formed by the government to address the demands of nurses has been extended by a month. In the extended period, the task force will classify all hospitals run by the private sector.
Minister for Health and Population Dr. Sudha Sharma, Secretary Dr. Vikas Devkota, Spokesperson Dr. Dr. Prakash Budhathoki, President and General Secretary of Nursing Association, and representatives of private medical colleges and hospitals were present.
