Commercial banks invest Rs 2.25 trillion in real estate, how much from which?

Kathmandu. Despite the flexible policy adopted by the Nepal Rastra Bank, the investment in real estate has not gained momentum. Still, the investment in real estate has slowed down.

According to the Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB), 20 commercial banks have been operating in the current fiscal year 2082. As of August 1983, loans worth Rs 220.17 billion have been invested. Previous fiscal year 2081. As of August 1980, loans worth Rs 222.45 billion had been invested in real estate. Compared to the previous year, loan investment in this category increased by only 1.67 percent in the review period.

Compared to the previous year, credit investment of 11 banks increased in the review period, while 9 decreased in the review period. Nepal Investment Mega Bank is the top lender while Kumari Bank is ahead in terms of growth rate.

Nepal Investment Mega Bank Limited (NIBL) has disbursed loans worth Rs 24.06 billion in real estate till mid-August of the current fiscal year. The bank had invested Rs 24.76 billion in real estate in the previous fiscal year. Compared to the previous year, the credit from banks decreased by 2.83 percent in the review period.

Similarly, Prime Commercial Bank is the second largest lender in real estate. The bank disbursed Rs 19.41 billion in real estate loans till mid-August of the previous year, which stood at Rs 23.86 billion in the review period. The bank’s loan investment increased by 22.94 percent in the review period compared to the previous year.

NIC Asia Bank is the third largest lender in real estate. The bank has disbursed loans of Rs 23.54 billion in the review period. The bank had invested Rs 27.95 billion in the same period last year.

Kumari Bank has increased its real estate loan by 90.74 percent in the review period compared to the previous year. The bank has disbursed loan of Rs 7.71 billion in the review period.

Machhapuchchhre Bank is the bank that has issued the lowest loan till mid-August of the current fiscal year. The bank has disbursed a loan of Rs 1.59 billion.
